Solo: the Noah’s
Arc wars of the blues.
No one left standing but a few:
No jazzy moods of blues in the latest Star Wars epic movie, but there is
action in glorious colours of Metallica, due to sky high ship flying fight
scenes. The heroes are blue with anguish;
The other fight scenes on the movie set are sand dune scenes and snow flake train
scenes -reminiscent of Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express.
Except here the murder takes place in the final setting. To be precise, in a very Pirates of the Caribbean inside ship
setting, rather than inside a cruise ship or a moving train.
The Hero renegades are solo flyers, high flyers, who owe the
boss but don’t always deliver.
The choice is clear: either run or deliver the treasure bounty.
Not many of the Indiana Jones nature shots in this
futuristic film. More of the Pirates of the Caribbean style shooting.
The heroes do deliver their shiny 'tinsel' box of bountiful blue treasure into the right hands eventually: i.e: to the rebels of old; the mountain captains, rather than to the
office heroes.
The leading lady seems to switch sides, but doesn’t let go of her own hero. Never..
The most atmospheric settings are the ones in the snowy train track mountains
and in the barren walkers 'sand dunes.
All we are lacking is the much-missed forest setting of Indie
style antics.
We do find ourselves inside the familiar swishing motion shots of space ships, as well as inside the
ins and outs of the close ups and quick back shots of the Space surroundings. Surrounded by sounds.
The dots of space and stars are well accompanied by the dots
of the staccato music -in this epic sequel production.
One never gets tired of the fun tricks of stars and wars.
PS: one of my favourite scenes -as always- is the one with the creatures from the lagoon of outer spaces. A few of those scenes are indeed a much enjoyable part of this film. The costumes and make up are extraordinary!
Watch this 'space' for more of the
same, in the next transformative/informative sequel of reviews on the blog.
