The third but still one to go!

This particular animation film at Cine Lumiere is in English.
No subtitles are required here, since the story is a straightforward one of a hybrid of stories.
Instead of being with one flying book, or with a hybrid human or two, we find ourselves with the new age pages of many fables in one.
Unlike the previous CineLum stories seen before.

It takes us into the upside-down world of Frankenstein’s lab -where the morbid forbidden forest is a mix and mash of flora and fauna.
No lab electricals here, except for the electricity of the natural elements, exploding inside bottles and into potions, and creating a bewitching and magical world for all us viewers.
From a giant spider inside Harry Potter world, to another forest filled with love and with mutant hunch back singing skeletons.
Hats down to the creators of this film for its imaginative Jack and the Bean Stalk flowery romantic content.
The movie offers us growing sun flowers and monstrous spider mutants.

In actual fact: there is only one: he is the phantom skeleton spider of the opera, with an angel singer for a friend. He is Jack of the Bean sun flower too!
They lullaby us into a stage of theatrical Parigi.
The final fable felt in this film -through signs, symbols and hints of insignias- is Alice in Wonderland. From the talking top of the giant tree or plant, to the eat-me/drink-me papers and letters of invitations, we jump from scene to glorious scene.
The tea party is set in a French style bistro setting -from time to time, as well as in the movie theatre, and on a cabaret musical stage.
The hunch back of Notre Dame is non-other than the phantom skeleton hat wearing hero too; the same giant looking spider -who isn’t a germ at all but a talented being.

The story is also a gargoyle type buildings story -where the escape scenes take us away from the top of buildings and balloons to the trams and moving vehicles of a transformative nature.
The cars change and so do the living things.

The content is one of love and couples, as well as of Sherlock Holmes detective clues and follow ups.
Will the commissionaire and the captain find the culprits? Who are the culprits and how will the story unfold?
Escapes and Chases above and afoot!
Not forgetting the love angle baby!
Sing me out to black-

How clever will our hybrid team of heroes be?

Captain's Log on the Blog

Solo: the Noah’s Arc wars of the blues.
No one left standing but a few:

       No jazzy moods of blues in the latest Star Wars epic movie, but there is action in glorious colours of Metallica, due to sky high ship flying fight scenes. The heroes are blue with anguish;

The other fight scenes on the movie set are sand dune scenes and snow flake train scenes -reminiscent of Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express.

Except here the murder takes place in the final setting. To be precise, in a very Pirates of the Caribbean inside ship setting, rather than inside a cruise ship or a moving train.

The Hero renegades are solo flyers, high flyers, who owe the boss but don’t always deliver.

The choice is clear: either run or deliver the treasure bounty.

Not many of the Indiana Jones nature shots in this futuristic film. More of the Pirates of the Caribbean style shooting.

The heroes do deliver their shiny 'tinsel' box of bountiful blue treasure into the right hands eventually: i.e: to the rebels of old; the mountain captains, rather than to the office heroes.

The leading lady seems to switch sides, but doesn’t let go of her own hero. Never..

The most atmospheric settings are the ones in the snowy train track mountains and in the barren walkers 'sand dunes.

All we are lacking is the much-missed forest setting of Indie style antics.

We do find ourselves inside the familiar swishing motion shots of space ships, as well as inside the ins and outs of the close ups and quick back shots of the Space surroundings. Surrounded by sounds.

The dots of space and stars are well accompanied by the dots of the staccato music -in this epic sequel production.

One never gets tired of the fun tricks of stars and wars.

PS: one of my favourite scenes -as always- is the one with the creatures from the lagoon of outer spaces. A few of those scenes are indeed a much enjoyable part of this film. The costumes and make up are extraordinary!

Watch this 'space' for more of the same, in the next transformative/informative sequel of reviews on the blog.

Finale finale ma non e ancora finita la storia?Series 2 and then some1!

To Be Continued
   as before… and
and
not yet as the next series of after mints...

Once upon a fable continues with another series of very diverse stories, shorts, about life transforming moments.

From the black and white chalk of students of life, in colour too, including their flying dreams and bonding with fliers in nature like birds etc, to the machinery of future life.     The moral is no limits to imagination and exploration.
Life in colour is less boring and so is the discovery of life.

The other story is set in the robotic future, with a robot alien rather than school kids.
The colours here are brown and brown with screws and nuts, and the longing to be transformed into Nature as well, capital N for natural journey. He wants to find out who and what and why and where. Basically the numerals are not enough.

The other futuristic story is about human nature bound for industry, and about the machinery of work; light bulbs on and off, but also and as well and too, with an acceptance of the death of life. Longing here is less organic and more for flight in a fun balloon of vivid colours. Basically the worker clones long for fun and freedom in a vacation balloon.

Finally, but certainly not a weak finale, is the man not the robot transfiguring into many transformations in many many colours: ranging here from angel wings to Vamp and Lycan like ‘gargoylish’ dimensions. It feels like a museum setting and a dark atmosphere for our extraordinaire hero -with a destined wing for flight.
And finally, one more forgotten thing but not forgotten at all: is the man in the hat story of today -who reads and reads and reads and discovers truths- and merges into his written lines and books, and flies within them and without them, in his 'fabulistic' library of wood and spice.
The final two finale stories are linked with colours, and merge because of their enchanting elements.

Bulbs out and flight off into the clear blue skies of the school yards.
